" Water Based " is a highly misused expression all over the World.

" Water Based " is referred to any coatings where the media where all components of the coatings are dissolved is pure water only.

Too many companies who use organic solvents, misuse falsely the term " Water Based " for their coatings, only because they are dilutable with pure water.  But this is absolutely not correct, because these coatings contain a variety of poisoning organic solvents that are water compatible.

When any of these water compatible organic solvents are present in coatings, they can not be declared as " Water Based ", period!  It is by any mean a false statement.

If you want to be sure about any " Water Based " declaration, ask for the manufacturer Safety Data Sheet of the product. Any manufacturers have the obligation to declare honestly the presence of any dangerous component used in its formulation.
